Description

Carved by Navajo artist Victor Abeita, this kachina doll depicts a Medicine Man.  The medicine man stands atop a round base, one foot lifted as if stepping forward, his ankles covered in white fur, as is the back of his head, neck, and shoulders.  Black and purple feathers adorn the medicine man’s head, while his face is painted turquoise with black, red and yellow accents.  The medicine man holds purple and black feathers in each hand, his wrists surrounded by grey leather accented with sterling star patterns and turquoise, as is his waist, which also features purple leather.  A purple leather satchel is slung across his body, accented in turquoise and featuring grey leather fringe.  The Medicine Man kachina mixes herbs and roots to give advice, prevents & cures sickness. 15 1/2″ tall x 6 1/4″ wide x 5″ deep.
