Description

Handmade by Navajo potter Nora Yazzie in her signature style, this impressive piece depicts a traditional corn maiden in white, micaceous clay.  The maiden features kernels along her front side, which are wrapped in several husks that fold over themselves and curve, some short and others extending all the way up her back. The maiden’s eyes appear to be squinting and her mouth is open, with blue paua shells accenting each ear lobe and one placed atop her head, attached to a white feather.  14 1/4″ tall x 5″ wide.
