Description
A seated male rests with a drum in his lap and a child hanging on each shoulder in this fun storyteller figurine by Jemez potter Pamela Toya. While the original storyteller figurine also depicted a male, male figurines have become more rare. In this piece, a man rests with his legs outstretched, a drum in his lap with one hand resting along the top and the other along its side. One child hangs from each of the man’s shoulders, with the children smiling and the man’s mouth open. Each figure is painted in combinations of red, black and buff, while the top and bottom of the drum are turquoise. 4 3/4″ tall x 3 1/8″ wide x 3 1/2″ deep.
