Two children flank a seated woman in this gorgeous, handmade and hand painted storyteller figurine by Acoma potter Judy Lewis. Judy, known for detailed and expressive painting and unexpected details, created this piece in the same style, showcasing a seated woman and two children, the woman accented with various details including a bird, lizard and butterfly, and lady bug. The woman holds a bowl in both hands, the white bowl painted on the outside and inside with traditional and animal designs including a butterfly and lizard. The woman rests with her legs outstretched, one child holding on to one shoulder and the other standing along the opposite arm. A butterfly rests in the crook of one of the woman’s arms, while one bird rests on the shoulder opposite the along the other shoulder, and a lady bug sits atop one of the buns on each side of the woman’s head. All figurines are painted with large, expressive eyes, while the girl along the shoulder is painted in pink and black, the boy in blue and black, and the woman in mostly black with red accents. She is finished with a lizard painted along one of her feet, its head lifted slightly upward. 4 1/4″ tall x 3 1/4″ wide x 3 1/2″ deep.
