Description

Handmade by Cochiti/San Felipe potter Dena Suina, this impressive vase showcases beautifully painted black and white geometric patterns, a removable lid, and several tiny, handmade figurines including one bear and thirteen children.  The top of the piece’s lid is set with the black and red bear, a heartline running along its center, as well as one seated child with a drum, and one child laying on their stomach, taking a nap.  The remaining 11 children rest atop the vase’s inflection, with three children playing checkers, each on their stomachs, one with her hands one atop the other, resting, a couple of girls holding balls, one boy holding a football, one a book, one holding dice, and another with what appears to be a phone held up to his ear.  The neck of the body is left entirely black, while the base of the lid is painted in reoccurring triangles in black and red, and the body of the vase in reoccurring diamond/triangle designs, also in black and red.  6 5/8″ tall including lid x 3 1/4″ wide.  5 1/2″ tall without lid.
