Description
Featuring exquisite detail, this hand carved kachina doll by Hopi artist Wally Grover depicts a hummingbird. The curved piece stands atop a round wooden base, its body featuring various traditional designs including a sunface, clouds and rain, tadpoles, a serpent, and flowers. The body is painted in various sahdes of green, black, red, yellow, and white. A shawl is draped over the hummingbird, also showcasing intricately carved detail, while a yellow and black beak protrudes from the face, its curved eyes painted black. The head of the kachina is finished with a detailed parrot, its wings outstretched forward and tail feathers protruding backward. 11″ tall x 4″ wide x 4″ deep.
