Description
Created by hand by Hopi/Laguna potter Ray Jose, this detailed kachina doll depicts a traditional Long Hair. The kachina stands atop a cut wooden base, its body spiraling upward and carved with fine lines painted black, representing hair. The kachina’s face is painted turquoise with black eyes, just below featuring panels painted in turquoise, white, yellow, and red. Four feathers protrude outward from the top of the kachina’s head, while one protrudes upward. The long hair kachina is said to bring rain and always be singing, its long hair representing the rain it brings. 13 1/4″ tall x 2 1/2″ wide x 2 1/2″ deep.
