Description
Impressively carved by Hopi artist Floyd Nutumya, this vibrant kachina doll depicts a traditional eagle. The eagle stands atop an oval cottonwood base, one foot slightly in front of the other, standing tall and wings outstretched. The eagle features various details, including ties at the ankles and turquoise bracelets at the wrists, its sash and lower garment painted beautifully in red, blue, green, and black. The eagle’s face is painted turquoise with black accents, while its beak is yellow and black, the feathers surrounding its neck black and white, and those atop its head black, white, red, and even yellow. The bird’s outstretched wings are painted black and white, while the plait along its back is painted in red, turquoise, yellow and white. The eagle said to rule the sky and represent great strength and power. 13 1/4″ tall x 12 1/4″ wide x 5″ deep.
