Description
Hopi/Laguna carver Ray Jose created this unique and original Kachina doll depicting “Cold Bringing Woman” by hand. The piece features a cottonwood root base with an extension of the tree itself, while the woman stands atop it, one foot in front of the other. A feather protrudes outward from her forehead, painted in turquoise and red, while her teeth are bared and hair hangs from her chin and down her shoulders. She is dressed in a cloak, underneath which tassels hang, and her garments are painted along the edges in purple, green and red. She holds a walking stick in one hand and a rattle in the other, her fingers painted with several rings. 11 3/4″ tall x 2 1/2″ wide x 5 3/4″ deep.
