Description

A thin sterling silver panel is intricately stamped and cut out with flowing patterns and finished with a large, oval turquoise piece at its center to form this incredible butterfly pendant by Navajo silversmith Wilford Begay. The stone, bright blue in color and containing portions of black matrix running throughout, is set in a simple sterling silver bezel and surrounded at the base first by a thin sterling silver rope pattern, then by a row of applique sterling dots.  The sterling panel that forms the butterfly is stamped with reoccurring fine lines, swirls and dots, and showcases thin cut outs to give it dimension, while the butterfly is finished above and below the stone with a single applique sterling star pattern, as well as above by protruding sterling silver antennae.  The piece’s bail also showcases stamp work, including dots and step patterns.  3 3/8″ long including bail x 2 1/4″ wide.
