Description
Created by San Felipe/Zuni carver Joseph Latoma, this stunning, large bowl features a red backdrop and multiple hand painted designs in various colors. The rim of the piece is painted solid black, while just below, panels featuring various weather patterns are painted in black, white, and red. These patterns mostly consist of clouds and rain. Painted below the panels are several birds, each with a round body featuring additional weather patterns in the same colors as those painted above, the birds separated by step patterns and additional bird and geometric designs. Base of the piece is painted an even deeper red than the majority of the body. 8 1/8″ tall x 11″ wide. San Felipe pottery is increasingly rare, and the combination of San Felipe and Zuni even more so.
