Description
Beautifully detailed, this stunning cat figurine by Jemez potter Carol Lucero Gachupin features three children and various animals. The cat rests on its stomach, its front legs outstretched, a ball of yard sitting atop its grey and white front paws. The ball of yarn is made of clay, and actual yarn extends outward from the top of the piece, adding a fun and creative detail. Two children lay atop the cat’s back, with another leaning against one of its back haunches, the children atop its back holding a fish and mouse, respectively, and the leaning child holding a beautiful blanket. A butterfly rests alongside one of the cat’s perked up ears, painted in red, black and white, the same colors as the children’s clothes. The cat is painted in two shades of grey, and accented in white, red and black, its eyes wide and expressive, nose red, and grey whiskers extending from its mouth along its white face. 2 1/2″ tall x 5 1/2″ long x 4″ wide.
