Description

Carved by Navajo artist Victor Abeita and detailed with feathers, fur, and felt, this large, impressive kachina doll depicts an eagle.  The eagle stands on an oval wooden base, one leg lifted and shifted slightly forward, as if it’s taking a step.  Its wings are outstretched, covered in black feathers and white fur, the white fur extending down its back and up the back of its head.  Its upper body is painted black, while its lower body is surrounded by red felt clothing finished with a brown felt belt set with a single turquoise stone.  The eagle’s face is painted turquoise, its beak yellow and black, and the top of its head is finished with brown and black feathers, as well as another piece of turquoise.  The Eagle kachina represents strength and power, and is the ruler of the sky and the messenger to the heavens. 14″ tall x 12 1/2″ wide x 5″ deep.
