Natural Kingman turquoise, polished but left in its original, almost nugget-like state, comprises the entirety of this beautiful bear fetish by Zuni carver Kenrick Laiwakete. The bear, which also features a shell, turquoise, and jet medicine bundle, showcases large portions of black matrix and is carved on a profile. Medicine bundles, meant to be offerings to the spirit of the animal, are most often tied around the carving’s mid-section. In most Native American cultures, bears are said to represent great strength, power, introspection healing, the spiritual journey, and knowledge. In Zuni culture, bears are also considered the Guardian of the West. 2 1/4″ long x 1/2″ wide x 1 5/8″ tall.
