Carved entirely of lapis, this stone fetish by Zuni artist Abby Quam Panteah depics an owl. The lapis contains pyrite and varies medium to dark blue, while the eyes are inlaid with small turquoise dots and a turquoise heartline points downward along the front of the owl’s body. Lightly etched lines create the owl’s wings. In some Native American cultures, owls are considered protectors of the home, who have true wisdom and can see what others cannot. 1 1/2″ long x 1/2″ wide.
