Santo Domingo potter Robert Tenorio, one of the most well-known potters from the Pueblo and considered one of the foremost artists in reviving and bringing attention to the legacy of Kewa Pueblo pottery. Robert creates pieces in the traditional style, adding his own personal touches in the form of hand painted designs and his signature egg white wash finish. This small bowl by the artist features a single deer in one panel, while the additional hand painted panels showcase a reoccurring floral design in black, which stands out beautifully against the piece’s buff backdrop. Sections of the deer are accented in a red/orange color, as well as one corner of the same section, which represents the sun. The piece is finished on the inside with an etched handprint, which Robert has said symbolizes the piece being handmade. 3 7/8″ tall x 5 1/8″ wide.
