#8 turquoise and sterling silver combine in this beautiful, traditional maiden pendant by Navajo silversmith Bennie Ration. The majority of the piece comprises sterling silver, while a large, round stone of #8 turquoise stone containing portions of brown matrix and set in a simple sterling silver bezel makes up the center of the body. The remainder of the body features a sterling silver rope pattern surrounding the base of the stone, followed by a sterling silver band stamped with fine lines and cut out to give it a scalloped effect, finished with two rows of appliqued sterling silver dots. A sterling silver maiden’s head, complete with deeply grooved rectangular eyes and a round, appliqued mouth, protrudes from the top of the body of the piece. The head is bordered by a sterling silver tableta on each side and along the top, stamped with scallop and step designs. The forehead of the piece is stamped vertical lines, representing hair. 2 3/8″ long including bail x 1 1/4″ wide.
