A truly unique piece, this adorable storyteller by Jemez potter Felicia Fragua showcases a woman on each side: one holding three children and a basket, and the other featuring the body of a pueblo scene. The front side of the storyteller features the children, a woman holding all three in her arms. A basket rests along her lap, and she is painted in red, black, and white attire, as are two of her children. The other also wears grey. Her expressive face features an open mouth and rosy cheeks, and she sits with legs crossed. The opposite side of the storyteller showcases the same expressive face, but an entirely different body. The majority of this woman’s body is hollow, featuring a cut out along the bottom portion that has been etched and painted to form a pueblo scene. The hollowed out part of the body is painted with petroglyph designs inside. 5″ tall x 3 1/4″ wide.
