Description
Adding her own twist to traditional storyteller figurines with unexpected colors and elements, Jemez potter Sharela Waquie added flair to this gorgeous storyteller with a flower and some vibrant green and yellow. The storyteller sits with legs outstretched and a flower held in her hands at the center of her body, while one child rests on a leg, one one the opposite shoulder, and on atop her head. The woman’s hair is pulled up in a bun on either side of her head, while she and two of the children are painted in black, red, white and blue clothing; the back of her shawl painted in a green, white and yellow corn stalk. The third child wears a pop of yellow, matching the back of the mothers shawl and the center of the lovely flower in the woman’s hands. 5 1/4″ tall x 4″ wide x 4 1/8″ deep.
