Description

Smaller in stature than many kachina dolls, this still impressive piece by Hopi carver Irvin Jojola depicts the traditional Longhair, its carved hair winding around an intricate wooden Pueblo scene.  Three feathers rest at the back of the longhair’s head, its face painted turquoise with rectangular black eyes. Swirling black hair winds its way down toward the piece’s base, surrounding an unpainted and detailed Pueblo scene features two tiers, stairs, and windows.  The longhair is said to bring rain, with its hair a representation of the rain.  7 3/4″ tall x 2 1/4″ wide x 2 3/8″ deep.
