Description
Considered the mother of all Kachina, the Crow Mother is depicted beautifully in this wonderful carving by Hopi artist Arthur Cheromiah. The Kachina doll stands atop a round wooden base, one foot slightly lifted, as if the Crow Mother is taking a step forward. Crow Mother holds a rattle in one hand and a frond in the other, her shoulders draped in a lovely shawl painted in black and green accents, as well as with yellow and red floral patterns. Stacked rows of green foliage surround the kachina’s neck, while her face is painted turquoise and back. Feathers protrude from each side of the head and are set along the top, while red and black accents finish the face. 11 1/4″ tall x 3 1/4″ wide x 3″ deep.
