Carved by hand by Navajo artist Victor Abeita, this kachina doll depicts a clown, or koshare.  The piece’s body is painted black and white, is lips red and cheeks painted with dots.  It is adorned in leather of many different colors, including purple, yellow, black, turquoise, and blue, with the red leather surrounding its waist painted with blue and white flowers.  The koshare holds a slice of watermelon in one hand and a knife in the other, while and additional piece of watermelon rests below its foot up on the base on which it stands. The koshare is a said to be a powerful enforcer who entertains crowds.  13″ tall x 7 1/8″ wide.
