Standing atop a round wooden base, this lovely Navajo kachina doll depicts an Early Morning Singer. The doll is painted vibrantly in red, yellow, and turquoise along the face and body, the face featuring cloud, rain and lightning patterns along the cheeks. Brown feathers back the doll’s head, while three additional brown feathers are held in one hand. Brown leather surrounds the kachina’s bottom half, painted in geometric patterns in black, red and white, while brown leather also surrounds the ankles. The kachina is finished with additional leather across the chest and a rattle in the hand opposite the feathers. The Morning Singer kachina appears on roof tops and sing songs to wake the people of the villages. 12″ tall x 6 1/4″ wide x 3 1/2″ deep.
