Beautifully handmade and detailed, this stunning corn maiden figurine was created by Jemez potter Linda Lucero Fragua. The piece showcases a maiden standing tall with a lovely headdress atop her head, one child at her chest, also featuring a beautiful headdress painted with corn stalks. Both large and small maidens feature corn kernels along the front of their bodies, with the smaller of the two encased in a brown and buff husk. A gorgeous clay butterfly rests atop the kernels at the bottom of the larger maiden’s body, painted in grey, red, black, brown, and buff, while the larger maiden is finished with a shawl painted in traditional step, corn stalk, cloud, and rain designs in black, grey, red, and buff. The maiden is finished with a grey, black, buff, and red necklace. 8″ tall x 2 1/8″ wide x 2 3/4″ deep.
