Jemez potter Joyce Lucero, known for her traditional storyteller figurines, created this adorable piece featuring a seated woman and three children. The woman sits with knees bent and facing one side, three boys on her lap, one of which is holding a pottery plate. Another boy’s hands cover his mouth, while the third places a hand on each of his brother’s heads. The woman rests with head slightly tilted upward, cheeks rosy and mouth open, a turquoise painted necklace around her neck. She is finished with a bright turquoise shawl covering her head and back, the back of the shawl painted in white, black, and turquoise in traditional patterns. 3 1/2″ tall x 3 1/4″ wide x 3 1/2″ deep.
