Description

A large, handmade olla showcases a predominantly buff backdrop painted with stunning orange and black butterfly patterns in this impressive piece by Santo Domingo potter Vidal Aguilar.  The rim of the olla is painted solid black, below which is an additional black band, followed by a reoccurring scalloped black pattern.  This, in turn, gives way to the body of the piece, buff in color and painted with several beautiful butterflies facing in two different directions. The base of the olla is painted red, and it is finished with the customary egg white wash, giving it a gleam and high shine.  11 5/8″ tall x 10″ wide.
