Created by the expert hands of Jemez potter Scott Small, son of well-known potter Mary Small, this adorable turtle figurine showcases myriad beautifully painted patterns and a single turquoise stone at the center of the shell, along with turquoise eyes. The piece features a stunning sunface painted just above the turtle’s neck, bordered on each side by traditional corn stalks in red. The back of the turtle is painted in several panels wit various geometric and flower patterns, as well as cloud and rain designs and step patterns. Additional flower patterns are painted in a circle along the top of the piece, followed by cloud and rain designs that give way to a red base set with a gorgeous blue turquoise stone containing portions of black matrix. 3 3/4″ tall x 4 1/4″ wide x 6 1/2 deep.
