Showcasing both brown and red, this contemporary piece by Santa Clara potter Dusty Naranjo features a large, etched buffalo as its focal point. Dusty creates each of her pieces with both shallow and deep incising, creating dimension and adding character. No exception, this piece not only includes the sacred buffalo, but various geometric designs, whirlwinds, step patterns, and dragonflies, along with a beautiful, clean polish. The bottom 2/3 of the piece, brown in color, give way to red along the top 1/3, save for the top of the opening, which is also brown. While Dusty’s pieces are typically contemporary in style, she uses traditional hand-coiling methods to create them. 4 1/2″ tall x 4 1/2″ wide.
