Description
A large, seated bear painted brown with black and tan accents is adorned with twelve bear cubs in this adorable, handmade storyteller figurine by Jemez potter Vernida Toya. The bear sits with its hind legs stretched out in front of it, three bear cubs each along the legs and hips, with two more on each shoulder, one atop the head, and one within a pot held in the bear’s hands. One bear along each arm holds a black, red, and buff basket, while the piece of pottery held within the bear’s hands is painted red, black, and white. The largest bear is finished with a beautiful clay necklace painted in turquoise, black, and light coral, meant to depict a traditional turquoise and shell necklace. 11″ tall x 6″ wide x 7″ deep.
