A seated male storyteller is flanked by six children in this large, beautiful, traditional piece by Jemez potter Carol Lucero Gachupin. The man is seated, a blanket draped over one shoulder, a bandanna surrounding his head, and a clay, turquoise necklace hanging from his neck. One child rests on one of his shoulders, while another is draped over the other. Three additional children rest in his lap, while one sits on the floor just beside his leg. Several of the children are holding various items, including a doll, drum, pottery canteen, a blanket, and a pottery plate, and each child is painted colorfully in red, black, and turquoise. 6″ tall x 4 1/2″ wide x 6″ deep.
