Jemez potter Carol Lucero Gachupin, generally known for her storyteller figurines featuring people, created this incredible, detailed storyteller featuring a cat as the centerpiece, surrounded by children. The cat sits on a profile, one child sitting on its front paws, holding a mouse wrapped in a blanket, while another child stads on one back paw, holding a ball of string that unravels over the cat and the final child, resting upon its back, holding a fish. The cat is painted black, with a buff face and expressive eyes, a butterfly resting atop one of its ears. Each child is smiling, painted in black, white, red, and turquoise accents, while the cat is finished with brown accents. 6″ tall x 4 1/2″ wide x 4″ deep.
