Description

Stella Teller, well-known Isleta potter with a uniquely beautiful style, created this lovely seated storyteller with two children, incorporating traditional Native American symbolism not only in the figurine itself, but in the accents.  The piece showcases a seated woman, one child resting along her leg, and the other at her side, holding on to a corn maiden which also rests in one of the woman’s arms.  A Morning Singer kachina rests in the other arm, while the piece is pained in beautiful accents of white, peach, beige, and black.  The woman is finished with etched, dark hair, and a turquoise necklace in clay around her neck, while each of the human figures is painted with closed eyes and features a rounded, open mouth. 4 1/4″ tall x 2 3/4″ wide x 4″ deep.
