Delicate and intricate sgraffito work is made even more impressive when taking the size of this lovely piece by Santa Clara potter Candelaria Suazo into consideration. This small, red piece of pottery is expertly and intricately carved with reoccurring step designs along the top, and a traditional avanyu along the bottom. The avanyu, or water serpent, is made all the more interesting with reoccurring parrot designs along its body, and its lightning tongue reaches out toward an etched butterfly. The piece is finished with a high shine polish. 1 1/2″ tall x 2″ wide.
