Both sides of this unusually shaped and truly unique seed pot by Santa Clara potter Bernice Naranjo are etched in great detail, standing out beautifully against a brown backdrop on one side, and black on the other. In order to achieve a brown base, pottery is not fired to completion, unlike the piece’s black counterpart. The brown side of the piece features a beautiful buck surrounded by shrubbery, looking as though he’s running downhill. The black side of the piece showcases a lighter sgraffito, displaying a beautiful fawn that seems to be standing among grass. The piece is finely and expertly polished, with a glass-like finish. 3 1/4″ tall x 3 1/8″ wide.
