Description

A truly unique piece, this bowl by San Ildefonso potter Erik (Than Tsideh) Fender is one of his earlier pieces, as is typified by its buff color.  Erik now predominantly makes pieces in black and red, making this piece an immediate standout.  Erik, whose work is influenced by his mother, Martha Appleleaf, and grandmother, Carmelita Dunlap, both legendary potters in their own right, often paints traditional designs on each of his pieces and executes a smooth, exquisite polish.  This piece features both feather and weather designs painted along the top portion, while geometric patterns are pained just below the inflection along a black band.  The piece is signed Than Tsideh, which means Sunbird. 6″ tall x 6 1/2″ wide.
