Jemez potter Juanita Fragua, in her 80s and still creating pottery, made this lovely buff polished and painted wedding vase by hand. The piece, featuring a buff backdrop polished with high shine, is painted with several traditional geometric patterns in black, cream, and red, as well as several corn stalks along the front half. The piece showcases a lovely braided handle, also painted with designs in black and white, including triangles and arrows, while the majority of the back of the piece, save for the area just below each opening, is left entirely unpainted. 7 1/2″ tall x 5 1/2″ wide.
**Disclaimer** These unglazed vessels cannot hold water for long periods of time without sustaining damage and are not designed for ceremonial use.
