Description

Vibrant and complimentary colors and traditional patterns are showcased beautifully along the entirety of this stunning corn maiden piece by Jemez potter Carol Lucero Gachupin.  The maiden is painted with an expressive face, her mouth open and eyes wide, along with rosy cheeks.  Her head is surrounded by a traditional tableta, painted in turquoise, red, and black, while a turquoise necklace adorns her neck, finished with a shell pendant painted in turquoise, black, and white.  The maiden’s body features red and black corn kernels, while the entire body is encased in a buff corn husk, painted in black with whirlwind and step patterns. 11″ tall x 2 1/2″ wide.
