Well-known and accomplished Acoma potter Franklin Peters created this gorgeous jar by hand, hand painting several traditional designs in black, white, and red. The piece showcases the recognizable fertility pattern in three places just below the inflection, made up of various geometric designs and standing out with red accents. In addition to the fertility pattern, the piece is hand painted with several parrots, as well as weather patterns including rain clouds and rain (often symbolized in Acoma culture by fine lines). The rim of the piece is painted black, while the bottom is entirely red, and the piece was created in 2009, as indicated on the bottom next to Franklin’s signature. 8 1/2″ tall x 9″ wide.
