Description
A single stone of mostly white White Buffalo combines with sterling silver to create one of Navajo silversmith Bennie Ration’s signature maiden pieces. The unusually shaped stone showcases a concentration of black matrix at the top, is set in a simple sterling silver bezel, and surrounded at the base by a sterling silver rope pattern. This, in turn, is surrounded by a sterling band stamped with fine lines and scallops and cut out to form a pattern. Protruding from the top of the stone is a sterling silver maiden head, complete with deeply grooved rectangular eyes and a round, appliqued mouth. The forehead is stamped with vertical fine lines, representing hair, while the head is surrounded by a sterling silver tableta, stamped with step and scallop designs. Top of the head is finished with a detailed sterling feather. 2 3/8″ long including bail x 1 1/4″ wide.
