Known for his traditional and intricate maiden pieces, Bennie Ration created this large, beautiful sunface pendant with both turquoise and sterling silver. The body of the sunface is made up entirely of a large, diamond shaped blue-green turquoise stone, set in a simple sterling silver bezel and containing portions of golden and brown matrix running throughout. It is bordered by a sterling silver rope pattern at the base, followed by a sterling band that has been stamped with scallop designs and cut out along the edges, as well as appliqued with two rows of four sterling silver dots toward the top. Protruding from the top of the body is a detailed sterling silver sunface, complete with deeply grooved rectangular eyes and a round, appliqued mouth. The forehead is stamped with vertical and horizontal lines, while the head is surrounded entirely by delicate, detailed sterling silver feathers. 2 1/2″ long x 1 1/2″ wide. Hook bail is located at the top of the back of the piece, and head is attached to body with a jump ring, allowing it movement.
