Description

Gaspeite and sterling silver combine in this beautiful, traditional sunface pendant by Navajo silversmith Bennie Ration.  The piece comprises both gaspeite and sterling silver, the long, oval gaspeite stone making up the majority of the sunface’s body.  The stone, set in a simple sterling silver bezel, contains portions of brown and white matrix running throughout and varies lime to dark green. The remainder of the body comprises a thin sterling silver rope pattern surrounding the stone, followed by a narrow sterling band stamped and cut out with various designs to form a pattern, as well as appliqued with two rows of sterling dots. The body hangs from a sterling silver sunface, complete with deeply grooved rectangular eyes and a round, appliqued mouth.  The head is surrounded entirely by detailed and delicate sterling silver feathers.  The forehead of the piece is stamped with vertical and horizontal lines, and hook bail is located at the top of the back of the piece.  2 7/8″ long x 1 1/4″ wide.
