Description
Impressive in both stature and design, this stunning vase out of Mata Ortiz, Mexico was both handmade and hand painted by Florencio Sanchez. Showcasing a white, black, and red color scheme, the large vase is painted with a reoccurring, stylized bird design, surrounded by swirling geometric, crisscross, and feather patterns. Each bird can be made out by the head and eye, painted white along the vase’s larger black portions, its feathers extending upward and slightly curved. The rim of the piece showcases a row of lovely feather patterns, while the swirling designs encasing the birds alternate between beautiful combinations of geometric patterns and elongated feathers. 14″ tall without pottery ring. 15 1/2″ tall with pottery ring. 8 1/2″ wide.
